Catnip Fever Dream: Behind The Scenes

Updated: Apr 7

Using random small items from my house and office, I put together a quirky set titled, "Catnip Fever Dream." Two small triceratops, a miniature disco ball plant grinder, a large rainbow disco heart, the cactus and skull salt & pepper shakers from my kitchen table, glitter flecks and a sprinkling of catnip to bribe my fur-baby models, Sprinkle and Tuba.

I used a 3 light set up - a 25" beauty dish as my main light (on low-ish power so as to not overpower the side lights' gels) and two smaller strobes from the sides, each with blue and red gel filters. Behind the prop table was a V-flat (the black side) and on the table I draped a black covering.

I shot using my 24-70mm lens with a couple different Prism Lens FX filters, which I hand-held.

The results were fun, quirky, and totally a lucid fever dream vibe.

Would your cat be down to model for "Catnip Fever Dream" if I make this a traveling set?

Glowing crystals, a cactus, a dinosaur figure, and a skull in neon lighting. Dramatic red and blue streaks create a surreal ambiance.
