Sony Alpha Female: Grant Winner!

I've been a member of the Sony Alpha Female community since 2019 and have drawn so much inspiration from the talent of so many incredible fellow women Sony photographers. I have periodically submitted images to their weekly Microgrant contest and, this summer, I had the honor of being selected as the "Pets" Microgrant theme winner!

I'm so grateful - the winning image I shot was of our 12 year old beloved lab - my partner in adventure - Libby. The winning shot came with a $500 Microgrant, with which I purchased a sage green Nanuk case I've had my eye on for my business! So grateful and beyond honored - I'll absolutely be printing this one to go on our wall at home, what a fitting way to honor the life I've shared with my soul dog, Libby.

She's enjoying a slower paced retirement these days - while our days of long-distance hiking and backpacking trips are adventures of the past, we continue to make fun family memories at a slower, calmer pace of life. She enjoys 3-4 mile mosey walks with long sniffs and bird watching breaks followed by post-walk afternoon naps snoring happily (and loudly!) under my desk. While her favorite retirement activity is driving with her snoot out the window, she also loves to spend her evenings sprawled across a plush, comfy beanbag (no more backpacking air beds, she's over those, and the beanbag is definitely her dog bed) watching football (she's a Raiders fan) while cuddling dad.
